Spring already happened in Florida, about the beginning of February. Usually it waits till late February, at least. The seasons have no manners and graces anymore. Tsk.

Dan Gurney, American auto racing legend
Last night I discovered that Dan Gurney had died a few days before, on January 14. He was 86, so he beat the odds of survival typical of the racers of his era. He even owned his own racing team for a few years, having what I thought was the most beautiful of the F1 cars of its day, and won Le Mans [along with A.J. Foyt] at which time he started the custom of spraying the crowd with Champagne. If you see that now, and you always do at Formula One and top sports car races, he's the reason.
